Description: The FDA recommends that individuals of Asian ancestry be genotyped for the presence of the HLA-B*1502 allele prior to receiving Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, lamotrigine, and oxcarbazepine.
Reasons for Referral: Epilepsy, Neuropathy, partial seizures, generalized tonic-clonic seizures and mixed seizures.
Sample Requirement: Whole EDTA blood
Test Preparation: No test preparation is needed.
Test Done by: The PCR product is then separated by gel electrophoresis
